A little bit about me and how I got to do what I do.
Hiya, my name is Shelly and I live in beautiful Liverpool.
I'm originally from Germany, with a very diverse background from all corners of Europe and beyond.
I've always been fascinated by the stories about my family's past, which were regularly told by my great grandmother, while me and other family members sat around her kitchen table and stuffed our gobs with her self-made Polish food.
Years later in 2006, I started to research my own family tree and dove deep into my ancestor's history.
After a while, I was so indulged in the subject and had acquired so much knowledge about it, that I started to research trees for friends and not long after in 2011 I founded my first genealogy business in Suffolk.
After running it for six years, some private changes which included a move into a different country, forced me to close it and it stayed closed for five years all together.
Eventually I returned to the UK and I reopened, now with a different name and a different location in Merseyside.
Over the years I've worked on many interesting, partially tragic but always intriguing cases, which included finding unknown siblings, birth parents, long lost graves and all kinds of secrets.
I also had negative experiences, like a tragic case that I couldn't solve in time, before the lady who had asked me to help her sadly died from cancer. This is probably the saddest case.
Genealogy is not a boring job which involves dusty books and boring facts about dead people that we didn't know anyway.
It is uncovering secrets, finding out about the people who were at the right time at the right place, which ultimately led to us being created. These people are not just names in our family tree, they are all part of us. Every single one of them.
So basically, I'm helping you, to find out more about yourself. And that's just wonderful, isn't it?
